It has been six weeks and two days since Justina's car accident. Considering everything Justina has been through, she is doing well. It has been a while since we have updated Justina's website. A lot has happened. Let me (Alisha, Justina's sister) update you all.
Our Papa came for a month (or so) to help around the house (cleaning, folding clothes, cook and much more) and physical therapy with Justina. Words can not express how grateful we are to have Papa around. Especially since he just turned eighty. We are definitely blessed with a wonderful Grandfather, like himself. Unfortunately, Papa had to go back home on the 24th of this month. But we had a wonderful time having him around and Justina loved it also.
Back to Justina.
Justina went back to the orthopedic doctor the middle of August for a check-up. The doctor took x-rays and told us that Justina's bones are healing. Yes, it's still uncomfortable and painful (mostly at nights now) for Justina to walk. But she is a champ!!! Justina is strong enough to walk with crutches. She started walking with crutches about 3 weeks after her accident (the doctors said she would not be able to use them until 4 weeks). At first, Justina needed help to walk down the stairs, but now she can do it by herself (with the help of a crutch). It was hard at first for her, but little by little she has become stronger and stronger. I believe with Justina being a dancer, her body is healing faster.
One of Justina's biggest outings:
Justina went to Queen City Church, which meets on Sunday evenings at 6:30pm. Justina's great friend, Tori brought her. It brought tears to my eyes seeing her there at church. Just thinking five weeks prior, she could have been in a different place. I thank the Lord so much for her life. She is a miracle.
Since Justina's visit to Queen City Church, she has gone to other places. Movies, coffee dates, people's houses. A few hours out of the day, it is good to get her out of the house. I love seeing Justina walk and doing normal things.
Today, Justina and I went to Old Navy (just like two sisters would do). A women who worked there asked, "If you don't mind me asking what happened to you, why do you have crutches?" Justina was very low key about her respond, "I got t-boned about six weeks ago, and fractured my pelvis and cracked some ribs." The worker couldn't believe that had happened and told her she looks very normal. The point in saying that is, even though one of the worst things happened to Justina...she is here with us and we are so thankful.
Question: How is Justina today?
Her bones are healing. Which is good and bad. Pain is always an issue, but she gets through it. Justina has had many friends visit her, which has been great for her. It brings her life.
Justina and my family are very thankful for everyone's generosity and prayers. We could not have done it without all of y'all. Thank you!!!!
Also, thanks to everyone who has come to the house to help clean/organize, bring meals and help in any other way. THANKS!!!!!
Justina still has medical bills coming in. So, if you would still like to help in any way, here is what you need to know.
